Google Adds Leadership Attributes for Veterans, Families, Women

Google has released a few new "business attributes" that you can add to your Google My Business listing, if they apply.  They include:

  • Family-led
  • Veteran-led
  • Woman-led

These attributes help you set your business apart from others, and give you a little notation on your public listing as well. I'm sure in the near future searchers be able to filter their results by these attributes - and maybe another way to stand out along with your positive reviews!

As a veteran owned business, I'm excited for the addition.

Here's how you can add these to your listing

  1. Visit Google My Business and sign in with your Google ID/PW
  2. On the left menu, click on the Info link
  3. Scroll down to the Attributes section and click the edit icon
  4. Check the boxes that apply on the window that pops up, and hit Apply

That's it! The verification process takes a few days and your new attributes should be live thereafter.

Hi Will- This is great info. I ran into a snag when attempting to implement it however. Under “Info” we have have no section titled “Attributes” like your screen shot displays. Can you help?

Hi Lindsay, I can think of two scenarios where this might be the case.

    1. It hasn’t rolled out to everyone yet. I don’t think this is true, I’m pretty sure everyone has it, but I could be wrong.
    2. You aren’t the admin/owner of the listing. Perhaps it’s claimed by some other Google account and you’re just a user?
